Leshan Giant Buddha

Built between 713 and 803, depicting Maitreya, the Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-metre tall stone statue. It is carved out of a cliff face of Cretaceous red bed sandstones that lies at the confluence of the Min River, Dadu River and Qingyi River in the southern part of Sichuan province, near the city of Leshan. The statue is the biggest of its kind in the world. There is a well- designed drainage system under the statue.It is a must-see for tourists who go to Chengdu
